They’re both strong teams in Africa boasting world class players playing around various major leagues all over the world and have engaged in thrilling encounters over the years in both domestic and international tournaments. One notable match was in the 2000 African Cup of Nations final which is one of the three AFCON finals this two nations have met in with Cameroon emerging victorious in all three.
It ended with Cameroon securing victory (4-3 on penalties). An arguably controversial element surrounded the victory as they secured their 3rd African Cup of Nations title. The victory unfolded amidst a tense atmosphere with over 60,000 spectators at the Lagos National Stadium. This unique circumstance arose because the competition was co-hosted by Ghana and Nigeria.
