Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has expressed regret over her role in advocating for the exhumation of late singer Mohbad’s body.
Speaking during an interview on Biola Bayo’s podcast Talk to B, she revealed her initial intentions were to uncover the cause of his death through an autopsy. However, she now wishes she hadn’t made the request due to the controversies and delays that have followed.
“I wouldn’t have requested that Mohbad be exhumed if I knew his case would turn out this way,” Ojo said. “I just wanted his body exhumed so they could do the autopsy to find out the cause of his death. I did my best to ensure everyone was investigated, but when they came up with different theories, DNA became more important to them.”
Mohbad, born Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, died under controversial circumstances on September 12, 2023, and was buried the next day. His body was later exhumed on September 21, 2023, by the Lagos State Police as part of the investigation.
However, the case became complicated when Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, insisted on a DNA test to confirm the paternity of Mohbad’s son, Liam, before allowing the burial to proceed.
