Eight of the passengers rescued from last Wednesday’s Benue Links bus abduction have been confirmed as candidates preparing for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations.

The victims were part of an 18-seater bus travelling to Otukpo on April 15, 2026, when they were kidnapped. They were released early Sunday after spending roughly three days in captivity.

Among those freed were three female students. They were later taken to the Benue State Government House in Makurdi by the Commissioner of Police, Ifeanyi Emenari, alongside their parents and guardians, for an official reception by Governor Hyacinth Alia.

The victims appeared weak and distressed, while authorities began documentation procedures ahead of the formal reception.
