Afrobeats star and businessman, Oluwatosin Ajibade, popularly known as Mr Eazi, has stirred conversations after declaring his ambition to become the president of an African country.
In a video shared via Snapchat, the “Skin Tight” crooner, who recently married Temi Otedola, daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, revealed that he has been considering the idea for some time and now feels ready to make it public.
“I have been thinking about it. I think it’s time to share it with you guys. Some of you might be from some country, specifically in Africa, and you are looking for a president — a president who is not looking for money and power but forward-thinking, young, active, and can move your country better. So, I’m officially putting myself forward for the presidency,” he said.
Although he did not specify which country he plans to lead, his statement has generated mixed reactions on social media. While some fans believe he was referring to Nigeria, others think he meant Ghana, where he studied and began his music career.
Mr Eazi, who created the unique “Banku music” sound, has often credited Ghana for influencing his artistry and shaping his career.
His revelation adds to a growing list of Nigerian celebrities expressing political ambitions. Actress Eniola Badmus earlier declared her interest in becoming a senator, while former senator Ben Bruce once predicted that singer Davido might one day become the governor of Osun State.
