Grammy-winning Nigerian artist, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has revealed that he has no immediate plans to start a family, citing his demanding career and relentless touring schedule as major reasons.
In a recent interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra in London, the 34-year-old Afrobeats star was asked whether starting a family was something he hoped to do soon. He responded, “Yeah, but I don’t want to start that on the road. I’m not planning on quitting tours anytime soon, so I don’t know where to now put that [starting a family]; find a middle ground.”
Burna Boy explained that settling down while still fully immersed in global tours would be challenging. For now, he prefers to focus on his music and live performances, which have become central to his life and career.

He also disclosed that he hasn’t taken a proper holiday since the beginning of his musical journey. According to him, the absence of children in his life has allowed him the freedom to remain fully committed to his craft without the need for long breaks or personal time off.
“I don’t want to start that on the road,” he reiterated, emphasizing the difficulty of balancing family responsibilities with life as a touring musician.
