The Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, his Deputy, Benjamin Kalu, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio have all extended warm felicitations to Muslims in Nigeria and around the world on the occasion of the 2024 Eid-el-Maulud, marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Didi Walson-Jack, in a statement signed by Eno Olotu, Head of Public Relations, urged Muslims to reflect on and embody the Prophet’s timeless virtues of peace, kindness, humility, and selflessness. She emphasized the need for these values to be practiced in daily interactions, particularly as Nigeria continues to work towards unity and prosperity. Walson-Jack expressed hope that the blessings of Eid-el-Maulud would bring peace and prosperity into the homes of Muslims, encouraging them to use this spiritual moment to pray for enduring peace, love, and unity, which are essential for building a stronger nation.

In a similar vein, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, congratulated Muslims and called on them to offer prayers for Nigeria, particularly for its political, religious, and traditional leaders. He acknowledged the country’s need for divine intervention at this critical stage and highlighted Prophet Muhammad as a symbol of peace and unity. Abbas encouraged Muslims to embrace the Prophet’s teachings of godliness, obedience to authority, and sacrifice, urging them to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in its nation-building efforts. He reassured the public that the 10th National Assembly, under his leadership, is fully committed to facilitating projects, programs, and policies aimed at fostering peace and prosperity.

Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu also congratulated the Muslim Ummah, calling on them to uphold the teachings of the Prophet. He emphasized virtues such as love, patience, tolerance, and perseverance, which he described as critical to both personal growth and national unity. Kalu further urged Muslims to offer fervent prayers for Nigeria’s continued unity and progress. He acknowledged the current economic challenges but assured the public that the government, led by President Tinubu, is working diligently to improve the lives of citizens. Kalu affirmed that the House of Representatives would continue to support federal programs and policies through the enactment of appropriate legislation aimed at improving the economy and the standard of living for all Nigerians.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio also added his voice to the messages of goodwill, urging Muslims to draw inspiration from Prophet Muhammad’s virtues of harmony, love, and service to humanity. He encouraged them to use the celebration of Eid-el-Maulud as an opportunity to rededicate themselves to living in peace and contributing positively to society. Akpabio expressed his hope that the occasion would bring peace, joy, and blessings to Nigeria and the world at large.

In conclusion, all leaders united in their call for Muslims to not only celebrate Eid-el-Maulud but also reflect deeply on the Prophet’s teachings, which, they believe, are crucial to fostering national unity, peace, and prosperity for the country.
