The automobile firm Toyota Nigeria Limited has disclosed plans to introduce three electric vehicles to the Nigerian market within the next three years in compliance with the government’s green deal proposal. Toyota Nigeria Limited revealed this last Friday during their first annual motor show, as stated by their Managing Director, Mr. Kunle Ade-Ojo. Some of these hybrid electric vehicles expected in the Nigerian market in the future will be the Toyota Cross, RAV4, and Land Cruiser Prado.

Ade-Ojo said, “By this period of the year, we are hoping to unveil our first product, the Toyota Cross, a hybrid electric vehicle; the next product will be the RAV4 hybrid, in the next year; But for the Land Cruiser Prado hybrid, that is expected in the last anytime next year or early part of 2026. ” He also pointed out that TNL will deploy its network of workshops.

“We are nearly finalising other arrangements involving different partners on using our network of workshops for the conversion of vehicles to CNG-powereds,” said Fawzi.

The Managing Director of TNL pointed out that approximately a thousand new vehicles were sold in Nigeria last year, with Toyota selling about 150 of them. He forecasted that about 15,000 new vehicles would be sold this year in Nigeria and said that Toyota was aiming to double its sales from the previous year.

The motor show primarily focused on exclusive rights; the events included a vehicle show, unveiling of two Toyota products, additional packages after purchasing, car driving experiences, and interactions. This year’s auto fair, held between the 27th and 29th of June in Lekki, had the ambiance of auto fairs hosted in Europe and America.

To add to it, the major sections in the large hall were Body and Paint, Spare Parts, and Service. Furthermore, beyond the hall yet inside the event center, there was an opportunity for customers to take a test drive of the cars ordered from the specific company for a global testing of the cars for sale.

Other executives from TNL were also present, including MD Ade-Ojo, who elaborated on each of the brands and made recommendations on what buyers could expect from TNL when purchasing a specific brand of car. Regarding business consumers, Ade-Ojo personally guided corporate customers, including federal government officials and influential CEOs of the largest companies, through the different sections.

Speaking to the newsmen earlier, he said, “This show is for all Toyota customers and other Nigerians who are interested in Toyota vehicles.

“While we are still engaging in other shows, this solo Toyota Motor Show will allow us to focus on satisfying our customers a little more, showing them our range of vehicles, and letting them know about other things that we can do for them in terms of after-sales service, spare parts availability, body and paint, among other value-added services.

He was the one who said that the show was also beneficial for the TNL team as it offered a chance to communicate directly with clients and customers without interference, while providing free vehicle evaluations and test-drives in a relaxed and quiet environment. Ade-Ojo, who also held one-on-one meetings with the CEOs, described the turnout and the overall event as satisfactory.

He highlighted the event as a “wonderful outing” and emphasized the positive experience of interacting with TNL on a one-on-one basis. He stressed that the after-sales area had been a major attraction for customers to receive free diagnostic checkups. Making their debut at the show were new models of the Belta and Rumion.
