Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage has opened up about her decision to freeze her eggs, saying it gives her “insurance” should she decide to have more children in the future.
In a candid interview with ZeZe Mills, the 42-year-old singer revealed she made the choice to safeguard against the natural decline in fertility, explaining that many women are unaware of how quickly egg reserves can diminish. “One advice I will give to women in their 30s is – whether you wanna have children or not, egg freeze,” she said. “I wish I did it earlier. But I’ve done it now. I don’t know if I want more kids but in case I do, I’ve done that just to have that insurance. Because you could wake up at 36 and your egg reserve is done, and that’s when you now decide you want to have kids. So, I’m really a big advocate for egg freezing now.”
Savage noted that having her first child in her 30s was “beautiful” because she was more financially and emotionally stable. She welcomed her only child at age 34 with her then-husband Teebillz on July 22, 2015.
