Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, has expressed optimism that Nigerians will soon reap the benefits of the President’s efforts over the past 17 months. Speaking to reporters upon Tinubu’s return to Nigeria after a two-week working leave in the United Kingdom and France, Gbajabiamila emphasized that the President is now well-rested and prepared to continue implementing key policies.

According to Gbajabiamila, Tinubu’s time abroad was not just a vacation but also an opportunity for reflection on his administration’s economic reforms. He described the President as the “captain of the plane,” working diligently to steer the country towards a “cruising altitude.” This metaphor highlights the administration’s goal of achieving stability and progress in Nigeria.

Tinubu’s return to Abuja was marked by a warm welcome from senior officials, including the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume. Gbajabiamila noted that the President’s rejuvenation will allow him to resume his focus on ensuring that policies are effectively put in place and that the nation is heading in the right direction.

The Chief of Staff urged Nigerians to remain patient and hopeful, stating, “In a matter of time, Nigerians will begin to see the fruits of his labour and our labour.” He reassured the public that the administration is committed to making significant progress and that everyone should embrace the “Renewed Hope” philosophy under Tinubu’s leadership.

Tinubu had left Nigeria on October 2 for his two-week leave, which was described by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, as part of his yearly vacation. This time was characterized as a working holiday, allowing the President to both rest and engage in important discussions regarding the nation’s economic future.

Upon his arrival on Saturday evening, Gbajabiamila reiterated the need for the President to take a break after a demanding period of work. “The kind of work he’s been doing in the last year and a half requires some rest,” he stated, emphasizing that Tinubu is now ready to lead with renewed energy.

As the administration moves forward, key figures such as Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other senior officials were present to welcome Tinubu back. Their presence underscores a united front in continuing the administration’s work, with all hands back on deck to drive the country toward the envisioned goals. With the President now back in Nigeria, the focus will shift to tangible results as the nation anticipates the outcomes of Tinubu’s policies and initiatives.
