Atalanta president Luca Percassi has become the central figure in an unfolding transfer saga involving Ademola Lookman, with the club chief currently in London for negotiations that could shape the Nigerian’s future.
According to Sky Italia and Sky Sport reports relayed by FCInterNews and SempreInter, Percassi’s official reason for travelling to the United Kingdom is to hold talks with Fulham over striker Rodrigo Muniz. Atalanta, fresh from their UEFA Europa League triumph, are eager to reinforce their attack after Mateo Retegui’s departure and see the 24-year-old Brazilian as a priority target. Their opening €40 million bid has already been rejected by Fulham, but La Dea are expected to return with an improved offer.
However, Percassi’s trip has also been linked to the growing uncertainty around Lookman. The Super Eagles forward, who enjoyed a standout spell in Bergamo, is currently in London with his family and has reportedly refused to return to Atalanta’s base. He is said to have already agreed personal terms with Inter Milan, who view him as a key attacking reinforcement ahead of the new Serie A season.
Reports suggest Percassi may use his time in England to hold private discussions with Lookman in an attempt to resolve the standoff.
