Former middleweight champion Israel Adesanya faced his fourth consecutive defeat after falling to American contender Joe Pyfer via technical knockout at UFC Fight Night on Saturday. The fight took place at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, USA.
Adesanya (24-6) started the fight aggressively, using precise movement and striking to dominate the opening round. But Pyfer (16-3) weathered the early storm and gradually turned the tide with powerful punches and a well-timed takedown.
In the second round, Pyfer pressed Adesanya against the cage, took him to the ground, and secured a full mount. From that position, he delivered sustained ground-and-pound strikes, forcing referee Herb Dean to stop the bout at 4:18 of the round.

After the fight, Pyfer described his approach: “I just have this mentality where I don’t care; I’m going to search and destroy.” Adesanya, showing his characteristic resilience, vowed to continue fighting: “I’m just going to keep going and going and going.”
This defeat follows losses to Sean Strickland, Dricus du Plessis, and Nassourdine Imavov, prompting questions about the 36-year-old’s future in the middleweight division.
For Pyfer, the victory over a former champion marks a major milestone. It extends his winning streak to four fights and positions him as a serious contender in the division, potentially bringing him closer to a title opportunity.
