Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State and Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), have both congratulated Chidimma Onwe Adetshina for her remarkable achievement as the first runner-up at the Miss Universe 2024 pageant in Mexico.
Chidimma’s journey has captured the hearts of Nigerians and the world, demonstrating her resilience and determination, qualities that resonate with the people of Enugu State, where she hails from. Governor Mbah expressed immense pride in her success, describing it as a testament to the brilliance and perseverance that define Ndi Enugu.
Abike Dabiri-Erewa echoed similar sentiments, praising Chidimma’s doggedness despite the challenges she faced, including her controversial withdrawal from the Miss South Africa 2024 competition.
Forced to leave the contest due to concerns over her nationality, Chidimma was warmly embraced by Nigeria, where she represented Taraba State and won the Miss Universe Nigeria crown. Dabiri-Erewa noted that Chidimma’s courage and focus had paid off, culminating in her success at the Miss Universe pageant.
In addition to her runner-up title, Chidimma was named Miss Africa and Oceania 2024, a recognition of her global impact. Her victory was celebrated in Nigeria with a grand reception hosted by Idris Olorunnibe and attended by music legend D’banj. Both leaders urged Nigerians to take pride in Chidimma’s accomplishments, embracing the spirit of national pride and resilience she exemplifies.
