A seven-year-old boy, Tinotenda Pudu, has stunned the world with his incredible survival story after spending five days lost in Zimbabwe’s Matusadona National Park, a wildlife reserve teeming with lions, elephants, and other dangerous animals.

The ordeal began when Tinotenda wandered away from his home and unknowingly trekked 23 kilometers into the perilous park, near the Hogwe River, which feeds into the Ume River. Surrounded by wildlife, he displayed remarkable survival skills, eating wild fruits and using a stick to dig small wells in dry riverbeds for water. He slept on rocky perches to avoid predators, enduring the roars of lions and the presence of elephants in the unforgiving wilderness.

Matusadona National Park, spanning 1,470 square kilometers, is home to approximately 40 lions, as well as elephants, rhinos, buffalo, leopards, and hippos. At one point, the park boasted one of the highest lion population densities in Africa, making Tinotenda’s survival even more extraordinary.

The local Nyaminyami community launched a search, beating drums each night in the hopes he would hear and find his way home. However, it was the sound of a park ranger’s vehicle that eventually drew Tinotenda out. Though he initially missed the vehicle, rangers later discovered fresh footprints, which they followed to locate him.

Zimbabwean MP Mutsa Murombedzi, who shared the story on social media, described the rescue as “a true miracle.” She praised both Tinotenda’s resilience and the dedication of the rangers who saved him. The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority confirmed the incident, correcting the boy’s age to seven rather than the eight years initially reported.

This miraculous tale has captured hearts globally, with many praising Tinotenda’s bravery. “This is beyond human comprehension,” one social media user wrote, while another noted, “He’s going to have one hell of a story to tell when he gets back to school.”
